The story behind the name
Lost Cove Leather is named after Lost Cove, an abandoned mountain community hidden deep in the Appalachian Mountains near the Tennessee–North Carolina border.
Years ago, my friends and I would make the long hike in from the Tennessee side — following the railroad along the Nolichucky River, we'd share our snacks, jump in the rapid moving waters, and just sit out in the sun talking about life. After climbing steep mountain trails (avoiding the snakes and other Appalachian dangers), we'd eventually reach our destination, a place frozen in time. We'd camp under the stars, build fires, and explored the remains of a life that once existed there: weathered cabins, a small graveyard with hand-carved gravestones, and an old bullet-ridden car slowly being reclaimed by the forest.
Lost Cove felt untouched by modern noise — a reminder of a slower, simpler way of living, where things were built by hand, meant to last, and repaired rather than replaced.
That spirit is the foundation of Lost Cove Leather.
I discovered my love of leather working nearly a decade ago while still in high school, and I’ve spent years refining my craft — learning from skilled makers, reading books, studying traditional techniques, and practicing relentlessly. For most of that time, my work was sold through word of mouth, Etsy, and small online communities. This website is the next step in sharing my work more intentionally.
Every piece I make is shaped by patience, craftsmanship, and respect for materials — inspired by places like Lost Cove, where time moves slower and quality matters more than convenience.
